Literacy Nova Scotia is a not for profit umbrella organization that provides a provincial forum for organizations and people to work together. We do this by sharing information about the state of adult literacy and essential skills in NS and in Canada by promoting accessible programs for all and by collaborating with others in order to support and celebrate learning to find solutions and to make connections.

Maggie's Place is a family resource centre which offers services and programs for families with young children. Programs include Parent & Tot Playgroups Parent Education Sessions a Prenatal Nutrition Program Kids in the Kitchen Red Cross First Aid Programs Car Seat Inspections and a Toy & Resource Lending Library. The Truro Homeless Outreach Society is an incorporated non-profit charity operating within the Town of Truro Nova Scotia. The Truro Homeless Outreach Society (THOS) grew out of the Out of the Cold program in Truro. Beginning in 2010 Out of the Cold operated out of local churches for 4 winters. The program was entirely volunteer-driven and ran from November 1 to March 31 each year.
