The Bankview Community Garden is in Upper Buckmaster Park near 23rd Avenue and 16th Street SW. It was created in 2011 to be a peaceful and productive space where neighbours can meet, relax and grow food for themselves. Bowness Community Garden started in 2008 in an unused residential lot in the NW urban neighborhood of Calgary called Bowness. It was an idea that Awaken,a new neighborhood-oriented church plant, felt could help build relationships into the neighborhood all the while inviting others into God's desires for creation care and environmental sustainability. This community garden at the Southwood Library was started in 2012 and has had many successful seasons.The garden is well supported by countless community volunteers. The gardeners share with "Garden Angel" duties which includes daily watering of community beds, library beds, and helping those on vacation. Our wonderful garden is located at the Hall – 2828 28th St SW. Every year, we ask the community who wants to be involved. KGCA members pay a fee per plot and then enjoy the challenge of growing their own fruits, veggies and herbs. Recently our garden has been growing even more thanks to ATB Agriculture. Their help in grants over the past 3 years has allowed us to create 4 new cedar plots on 28th Ave – meaning even more residents can get involved.Updated July 2020.

The Lake Bonavista Community Association Field Garden is a grass roots community garden development built in 2019 with 27 full sized rentable beds. Their goal is to encourage community wellness thru the growing of organic vegetables and to improve the shared quality of life in our community. Currently groups such as Bonavista Cares (for Calgary Food Bank) and Andrew Sibbald School participate for educational learning experiences. The Mid-Sun Community Garden was founded in May 2009. A group of interested and enthusiastic Mid-Sun residents banded together to help build thirty 8' x 4' raised beds for the grassy area on the north side of the community centre. In 2010, twenty more beds were added, as well as several perimeter fruit trees, Saskatoon bushes, and other landscaping considerations. There are now over 60 garden beds and an ever expanding, enthusiastic garden committee made up of 6 dedicated volunteers. Community Garden Motto -"We work together – grow together – learn together".Updated July 2020.

There are currently 12 rentable garden beds and 3 berms that we plant. To rent a garden plot for a growing season is $30 and you must have an up-to-date Community Membership. Garden plots can then be rented by clicking on Community Garden in the menu on the community website. Updated July 2020.

The Parkland community garden was established in 2009. With the assistance of our funders, anda lot of effort from garden members and residents, the garden was constructed using wooden frames and filled with soil and compost.The community garden has proved to be a positive endeavor for our community; it is a gathering place where residents get to know one another while attending to their plots. The garden is popular attraction and each year there are residents who asked to be placed on the waiting list in the event of a gardener who decides to not rent their plot for another year.
