About Me


Joanne Roulston, Grad Diploma Conflict Resolution, MSW, Juris Doctor, RSW, is a mediator and social worker, and a former federal government executive with many years in policy, research, and project and people management, and four years as a community-based social worker. 

Joanne is a nationally recognized expert in family and children's policy and programs, income security, and inequality who has testified at many Parliamentary committees, and as a OECD national expert on children's programming. She has briefed the most senior federal Cabinet and Opposition members, and published extensively. As a federal executive, she managed highly sensitive and complex projects and briefings, including federal government relations with provinces and territories, and community organizations.

She has worked in labour relations as a management-side government representative in federal relations with unions including during the 2012-13 downsizing. She has represented management on numerous grievance committees. Before becoming a manager, Joanne was a union representative for the Public Service Alliance of Canada and served as a chief steward for the adjunct professors at Carleton University in 2014-2015.

As a teacher, public speaker, facilitator, coach and counsellor, Joanne has worked with university students, federal employees, and community organizations for over 25 years.
