The Acadia Community Garden and Art Society was created to provide residents with a place to practice their gardening in Calgary's neighborhood of Acadia. We offer affordable garden space rental, community events, arts festivals, picnics, and a connection to like minded individuals in the greater Calgary area. The gardeners are active with a season opening and closing gathering as well as fundraising events throughout the season. Each paying member helps care for the Garden with specific tasks or general care. Updated July 2020.

The Banff Trail Community Garden was established in 2010 and has been a great place for community members to grow fresh vegetables, get to know community members of all ages, and contribute to creating a beautiful space to be enjoyed by all. The Bankview Community Garden is in Upper Buckmaster Park near 23rd Avenue and 16th Street SW. It was created in 2011 to be a peaceful and productive space where neighbours can meet, relax and grow food for themselves. Bowness Community Garden started in 2008 in an unused residential lot in the NW urban neighborhood of Calgary called Bowness. It was an idea that Awaken,a new neighborhood-oriented church plant, felt could help build relationships into the neighborhood all the while inviting others into God's desires for creation care and environmental sustainability. This community garden at the Southwood Library was started in 2012 and has had many successful seasons.The garden is well supported by countless community volunteers. The gardeners share with "Garden Angel" duties which includes daily watering of community beds, library beds, and helping those on vacation. Additional hours are expected to help with socials, distributing compost, mulching, weeding and garbage removal. Volunteering on committees or executive roles are encouraged. The DouglasQuarry Community Garden is nestled in between the rink and the baseball diamond, across from Swifty's in Douglasdale.  It is made up of individual plots that members of the DouglasQuarry Community Association can lease for the growing season. If you would like to grow your own fresh organic food, you don't need to have a green thumb; no experience is necessary.  You will learn various tips and tricks from other gardeners.  The more experienced gardeners are always happy to share methods that have worked for them.For more information contact garden@dqca.ca.

The FCJ Centre Community Gardens design and construction was graciously donated by JVR Landscape. We are thrilled to offer the gardens for the fifth year to enhance community gardening in the Mission District. Last year all of the plots were picked up quickly! Limited plots are available. This is a very active garden with many events throughout the season, from potluck to fire pit parties, Weeding Wednesdays, and occasional community garden talks.
