About Me


As Managing Counsel of HZ Law Professional Corporation, I have experience in litigation, corporate, family, estate and real estate law. As a lawyer licensed in Ontario and British Columbia, I have represented my clients at the Ontario Superior Court, Ontario Small Claims Court, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan, and appeared at the Small Claim Court of California, USA. I have also represented clients in negotiating settlements through mediation and arbitration.  Previously as a General Counsel of a multinational Hi-tech Corporation, I also facilitated and/or negotiated various dispute resolution and/or contract negotiations.

I served as a board member on many community organizations, including the United Way, Social Planning Council of Ottawa ("SPCO"), Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities ("CISOC"), where I served as the Board Chair for many years, I led or facilitated many dispute resolution processes, mediated and/or facilitated negotiations of collaborative and/or transactional agreements with various stakeholders. 

As a Certified Management Consultant and with special expertise in cross-cultural negotiations, I facilitated domestic and international contract negotiations for clients in a variety of organizations.  My previous clients included the Bank of Montreal,COM DEV International, CAE, the Native Women's Association of Canada, among others. As part of a three-member consulting team, I also worked on the World Bank "Closing the Digital Divide" Project. 

I worked at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) as a Manager of Consulting Service and gained a unique understanding entrepreneurs and professionals. Earlier on my career path, as a journalist, I interviewed world leaders, including Nelson Mandela.

An avid lover of literature, I express my reflections on life through my poetry in English and Chinese. I am a contributing author of two books.

I was nominated as United Way/CentraideOttawa "Community Builder of the Year Award" in 2006 and Asia Network"Asian of the Year Award" volunteer category 2008.

I serve my clients primarily in English and in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). I can also work in French. Other member of our legal team can also serve our clients in English and French.
