About Me

Mitchell Rose is a Chartered Mediator and Settlement Counsel, and principal of Rose Dispute Resolution and Mitchell Rose Law serving the Greater Toronto Area. His practice is focused on employment law, neighbour and boundary disputes and business conflicts, and offers clients either in-person or online dispute resolution.

Throughout most of his legal career, Mitchell was a civil litigator. He first learned about the Settlement Counsel (ADR lawyer) model while attending Harvard’s mediation program in 2012. After that time, as his mediation practice grew, he ceased practicing traditional court-based litigation, and became a full-time Settlement Counsel:  a lawyer who focuses on resolving legal disputes strictly through negotiation, rather than preparing for a hearing.

For 2020/2021, he is chair of the ADR Section Executive of the Ontario Bar Association. Mr. Rose served on ADRIO’s board of directors from 2016-2018.

He has regularly mediated civil disputes for over 10 years, and he is a frequent writer and speaker on a variety of ADR-related topics. Mitchell regularly presents at continuing professional development (CPD) programs for such organizations as the Ontario Bar Association, Osgoode Professional Development, the International Academy of Mediators, and the ADR Institute of Ontario. He also enjoys volunteering as a coach for law students and aspiring mediators.

He holds the designation of Chartered Mediator (C. Med) from the ADR Institute of Canada, and he is a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators. Mitchell graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1993 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995.
