"Tim Fitz Values Advocay Consulting" providing a suite of advocacy services, primarily focused in Labour and Employment, including Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), after over 30 years of public service at the City of Toronto, and nearly 30 years of union involvement including over 15 years in senior leadership roles at Canadian Union of Public Employees
(CUPE) Local 79, President for 6 years (2011-2017), and my recent completion of a Masters of Laws (LLM) in Labour and EMployment Law (2020). Training in ADR includes
The Theory and Practice ofAlternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) within LLM (2019), the
Osgoode Certificate in Online Dispute Resolution (ODR - 2019), as well as various trainings in dispute resolution, alternative dispute resolution, mediation, grievance process, arbitration, labour law during roles at CUPE.
I have many years of practical 'real-life' experience in dispute resolution and negotiations including lead negotiator for CUPE Local 79, with one of prouded accomplishments in years of union involvement being a hands-one leading role in resolution of nearly 4,000 outstandinggrievances in 3 yearsthrough alternative dispute resolution and mediation mechanism under and "Expedited Grievance Resolution process" as Chief Steward, CUPE Local 79 (2004-2008). I believed then, and continue to believe, that finding a timely and fair resolution to a dispute is as important for individuals involved and relationships which matter to them as the issue itself leading to the dispute, even in employment relationships in workplaces. I look forward to supporting those in need of resolution through my new independent ADR role.
