Professional Biography
Barb Ertl recently retired as a school social worker after 31 years. In that capacity, she was the director of a multi-district crisis response team. Barb is currently employed as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition, Barb has been a member of the ICISF faculty since 1998. She is the author of the 'Managing School Crises: From Theory to Application' course and also teaches several other ICISF courses. Barb has taught CISM courses throughout the United States and 5 other countries. Barb has responded to or been consulted with regarding 14 school shooting incidents and hundreds of community-based incidents ranging from bank robberies to natural disasters and plane crashes. Barb spent 23 years in public safety including fire, EMS and law enforcement. She is also a very proud United States Marine Corps veteran.
