JOSEPH J. SULLIVAN, C.S.

 

 

JosephSullivan was called to the Ontario Bar in 1984 and certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1992.  He graduated in 1982 from Osgoode Hall LawSchool. In May 2020, he completed the ADRIC Correspondence Course inArbitration.

 

He hasacted for both insurers and plaintiffs in tort, accident benefits and disabilityclaims.  

 

He nowoperates Sullivan Mediations and provides  mediation and arbitration services acrossOntario focusing primarily in the insurance, personal injury, accidentbenefits, employment and commercial litigation fields.

 

Joseph is a Past President of the Hamilton LawAssociation (2004 - 2005) and of the Hamilton Medical Legal Society(1995 - 1996). He was Regional Bencher (Central South) of the Law Society ofUpper Canada from 2011 – 2015.

 

Josephwas the 2013 recipient of the Emilius Irving Award presented by the HamiltonLaw Association in recognition of his contribution to Hamilton Law Association.

 

Hewas also Board Chair of St. Joseph’s Villa and 10-year board member, and amember of the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Health Care system.

 

Joseph hasbeen an invited guest lecturer at Queen’s, Western and Osgoode Hall Law schoolsat their law school course on mediation. 

Mediationpractice (full time) in hundreds of cases including dozens of Long TermDisability cases for Canada’s largest life insurance companies. Mediated dozensof municipal liability, commercial, employment matters and professionalliability cases. He has been retained to arbitrate civil disputes and intercompanyinsurance disputes .

 

Joseph has alsocompleted the ADR Institute of Canada’s Course in Arbitration by completing a lengthyprogram and final exam . He has received the Certificate given under seal ofthe ADR Institute .
