JeffCowan practices litigation law with emphasis in public and real estate law. Heappears regularly before tribunals and all courts with particular emphasis inthe fields of land use planning, development, municipal and environmental law,and all aspects of real property law, including acquisition, leasing and leaseinterpretation, expropriation, valuation, contracts for purchase and sale,boundary and ownership disputes, municipal assessment and property taxation andland claims by First Nations. He has been counsel to provincial ministries andadministrative tribunals, municipalities, ratepayers’ and property owners’associations, and a number of major commercial and industrial property ownersin the province.
Mr.Cowan also acts as counsel, arbitrator and mediator in real estate relatedarbitrations and mediations. He is aPresident's Circlemember of the ADR Institute of Ontario.
He is co-author of Ontario Annual Practice, a leading publication dealing with civiland administrative law litigation procedure, Mr. Cowan is a member of the Secretariat ofthe Civil Rules Committee of Ontario.Heis recognized as a leading practitioner in his field of practice by Lexpert andBest Lawyers in Canada and rated by Martindale-Hubbell as "pre-eminent".
