About Me

I am a retired Secondary School
Educator, Co-ordinator of the IB Program and Administrator with the TCDSB. I
have a Master of Science in Education.  In my 30 years of practice, my
focus and area of interest/specialty involved Student Success. The year of my
retirement in 2021, I enrolled in the Guelph-Humber, full-time, postgraduate
certificate ADR program. I graduated with honours, following the mandatory
completion of 12 courses and 160 hours of practicum work. I have also acquired Q. Med credential designation.
Additionally, I have acquired several additional certifications during
this time; St. Stephen’s Community Mediation certificate, Peacebuilder's Circle
training certificate, Ethical practice in ADR certificate, IPV awareness
training (intimate partner violence), safeTALK (suicide awareness) and trauma
informed practice certification.

I am currently employed with the University of Guelph-Humber as Student Advisor
for the Conflict Resolution Centre.  Additionally, I am currently
involved/participating in the preliminary course construction for the
introduction of Intergenerational Mediation to commence Jan. 2024 as an
addition to the ADR Program course selection.

My specialty and interests include
conflict coaching and mediation involving; students/youth, and
intergenerational conflict. My goal is to facilitate an open, safe conversation
and allow individuals to communicate clearly. My mission statement revolves
around the following premise: there is no such thing as over communication. As
a neutral party, I hope to provide guidance and perspective which involves; a
thorough analysis/inventory of personal skills, language skills, evaluation of
resources, generating/preparing options, roll play and hypothetical
reflections. I believe that conflict and our understanding of conflict is a
product of our past experiences. Unfortunately, our past relationship with
conflict is not necessarily a positive one; thus, in revisiting our
understanding of conflict, the human condition, our personal mythology and how
conflict can bring about positive change, it is my hope to make a positive
difference in the lives of humans!
