About Me


Michael A. Ball, during his years with Transport Canada, made substantial and sustained contributions to the technical development of transportation systems in Canada. Given his extensive and responsible positions in industry prior to joining the department, he brought valuable perspectives to the evolution of transportation policy in the department, and into the wider federal government community. His contributions to numerous committees related to transportation, security, energy and environmental issues nationally and internationally have been well recognized. Michael Ball has also served the profession unstintingly over the course of his 38-year membership in PEO, via extensive involvement in numerous committee activities and via his participation on PEO Council. In 1992 he proposed and championed the first National Festival of Engineering, the predecessor of the current National Engineering Month. Inducted as a Companion of the PEO Order of Honour in  2000. Appointed Executive Director of CAE in 2006 he continued his imaginative and credible service to the profession. In 2013 awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for services to engineering. In 2018 received the Province of Ontario Volunteer Service Award for 30 years of volunteering with PEO Awards Committee. Continues involvement as a member of Engineers Canada Public Affairs Committee.
