Dr. Joshua Karton is a Canadian academic and independent arbitrator, specializing in international arbitration and international and comparative private law. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Queen’s University Law Faculty, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.

Professor Karton is an internationally recognized expert on commercial dispute resolution, especially international arbitration. Professor Karton is a co-founder and the Managing Editor of the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration and General Editor of Kluwer Arbitration Practical Insights, the leading online research service for international arbitration practitioners.

Aside from his scholarly activities, Professor Karton is active as an arbitrator and arbitration consultant. He is deeply involved in professional organizations in the arbitration field, especially in training and capacity-building programs. He is a Vice Chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration's Academic Council, a director of the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society's "Gold Standard" course in arbitration, a member of various task forces of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, and an instructor and advisory board member of the Africa Arbitration Academy.
