The Acadia Community Garden and Art Society was created to provide residents with a place to practice their gardening in Calgary's neighborhood of Acadia. We offer affordable garden space rental, community events, arts festivals, picnics, and a connection to like minded individuals in the greater Calgary area. The gardeners are active with a season opening and closing gathering as well as fundraising events throughout the season. The garden provides fresh produce and plants and the opportunity for satisfying labour, and serves to create a sense of neighborhood improvement, a sense of community, and a connection to the environment.One of the plots is designated a "Charity Plot" where community garden members grow fresh produce for the Calgary Food Bank and the Spinz-A-Round Program.There are twenty 10'x10' plots which lease for the season on a first-come, first-serve basis. The DouglasQuarry Community Garden is nestled in between the rink and the baseball diamond, across from Swifty's in Douglasdale.  It is made up of individual plots that members of the DouglasQuarry Community Association can lease for the growing season. If you would like to grow your own fresh organic food, you don't need to have a green thumb; no experience is necessary.  You will learn various tips and tricks from other gardeners.  The more experienced gardeners are always happy to share methods that have worked for them.For more information contact garden@dqca.ca.


Douglas Shore Close, Douglasdale Athletic Park, CALGARY, AB

Early residents first dug into the East Village community garden in Spring 2016. The growing area includes raised beds for gardeners with mobility challenges, accessible water and a communal garden shed. The Inglewood Community Garden has been active in the historic community of Inglewood since 2003. We believe that it is the largest (contiguous) community garden in Calgary and it also hosts a Communal Garden, which is (we believe) the largest in-ground solely volunteer managed vegetable garden in the city dedicated to providing produce to local service organizations and garden volunteers. The Lake Bonavista Community Association Field Garden is a grass roots community garden development built in 2019 with 27 full sized rentable beds. Their goal is to encourage community wellness thru the growing of organic vegetables and to improve the shared quality of life in our community. Currently groups such as Bonavista Cares (for Calgary Food Bank) and Andrew Sibbald School participate for educational learning experiences. Legacy's Community Garden was built to enhance the community and provide enjoyment for every resident.  Donated by WestCreek Developments, this space has been developed with the goal of increasing biodiversity, beautification and community involvement. Gardeners must possess a Residents Association membership (this is open to members of the community of Legacy only) and be up-to-date on fee payments.
