Candian soprano Megan Miceli is a singer, musical director, arts educator, administrator, and creator. She has been praised for her “bright, pure, well focused high lyric soprano with admirably steady and evenly produced tone” (Musical Toronto). Some role highlights include Mother/Gravedigger/Guilt Spectre in the world premiere of Ghost Opera, commissioned by The Old Trout Puppet Workshop, the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity and Calgary Opera, Papagena (The Magic Flute), Morgana (Alcina), Berta (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), the title character in Dawn Sonntag’s new opera Evangeline,,and Despina (Così fan tutte).
Recent concert performances include appearances with Tapestry Opera, the Toronto Mozart Players, Pax Christi Chorale, BrottOpera and the National Academy Orchestra, Opera 5, Opera in Concert, The Cantabile Chorale, and L'Oasis Musicale, among others. Repertoire highlights include Mozart's Requiem, Gounod's St. Cecilia Mass, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater,
Bach's Magnificat, Vivaldi's Gloria, Durante's Magnificat, Mozart's Coronation Mass and Regina Coeli, Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri, Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, Handel's Israel in Egypt, Fauré's Requiem, Beethoven's Mess C-dur, and Berio's Laborintus II .
Megan was a member of Calgary Opera's Emerging Artist Development Program for their 2018-2019 season. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Performance and a Masters in Music in Voice and Opera from McGill University. Megan is a first prize winner of the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition and was a semifinalist in the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Manulife Competition. Megan was an Artist Fellow with the Association for Opera in Canada's RBC LINK Emerging Artist Program and a resident with the Banff Centre for Performing Arts' Opera in the 21st Century digital program for the 2020-2021 season. Megan is looking forward to upcoming collaborations and performances with Good Mess Opera Theatre, Amplified Opera, Toronto Mozart Choir, and Pax Christi Chorale for the 2021-2022 season.
