I've wanted to write for a living since second grade when I started writing poetry and I'm fortunate to live out my childhood dreams. An award-winning journalist for 21 years, I started freelancing in 2010. After winning a contest, my debut novel, Malcolm and Me, was published in 2020 to glowing reviews. My screenplays have led to two residencies and I currently serve as director of the Virginia Screenwriters Forum. I am currently writing a pilot based on my debut novel. I will soon direct my second short film that I co-wrote with my husband. 

I am working on my first documentary, about the history and influence of LOOK magazine, which was the subject of my most recent book. I am a former New York Times reporter who has also worked in the federal government, international organizations, think tanks, and nonprofits. I have done extensive freelance writing and published six books. I currently teach in the Honors College at George Mason University.

I'm a filmaker, teacher and festival programmer based in the DMV. I'm originally form the UK. I recived and MFA from Ohio Univerosty in 2021.
