Jody Heymann's groundbreaking work in global health and social policy has won recognition around the world. Heymann's pioneering research includes developing WoRLD, the first initiative to examine policies and their impact in over 190 UN countries. Her studies of working families around the world led to fundamental advances in our understanding of the impact of parental working conditions on child development, population health and economies. Her groundbreaking work in infectious disease policy includes some of the earliest work on breastfeeding and HIV/AIDS, stopping the spread of tuberculosis amidst the AIDS pandemic, and making prevention and treatment widely available in low-income settings.
