About Me

David Wilkinson of UBC has made major sustained contributions to the commercialization of fuel cells and other electrochemical devices (electrolysis, batteries, capacitors, electrodialysis, etc), while at the same time advancing the basic understanding of electrochemical transfer reactions. His incisive research and talented leadership have resulted in closing the gaps in performance, reliability, durability and cost of fuel cells and batteries, particularly polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. He is internationally recognized as a leader in electrochemical engineering and fuel cell innovation. He is also a dedicated mentor and teacher, contributing actively to the training of the next generation of engineers who can maintain Canada in a leading position in fuel cell technology and other electrochemical technologies.
