Dr. Kim Raine is Distinguished Professor, School of Public Health, University of Alberta. Trained as a dietitian, her PhD is in the social sciences. She has 30 years of experience in qualitative and participatory research in nutrition and health promotion. Most of her collaborative research studying innovative interventions for promoting health is engaged scholarship with government, NGOs and communities. As a creative leader of large population health promotion research projects, she has published over 160 papers and reports, and is regularly called upon to advise policy-makers, especially in public health nutrition, obesity and chronic disease prevention. She has held a variety of career research awards including an Applied Public Health Chair funded by CIHR and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
