Donald Weaver combines fully the careers of a clinical neurologist, biomedical engineer and molecular chemist who develops drugs for the diseases he treats. From his very active university research programs five very active companies have been formed to continue the development and testing of drugs his laboratory has produced for Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, systemic amyloidosis, neuropathic pain, and other neurological diseases. Many of these drugs are well advanced and hold great promise for more effective therapy for these important conditions. For his work he has received many awards and prizes. He is currently the Director of the Krembil Research Institute.
