About Me


Donald Calne is Professor of Neurology at the University of British Columbia where he served as Director of the Neurodegenerative Disorders Centre from 1991-2001. In July 1999 he chaired the World Federation of Neurology’s Xlllth Congress on Parkinson’s Disease and in 2001, was elected chair of the World Federation of Neurology Research Committee on Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. Dr. Calne is the founding editor of the journal Parkinsonism and Related Disorders and has received numerous awards for his contributions including Officer of the Order of Canada, the Frederic Newton Gisborne Starr Medal from the Canadian Medical Association, the Research Prize for Movement Disorders from the American Academy of Neurology, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and the degree of Doctor of Science Degree, honoris causa, from the University of British Columbia.
