Dr. Ling is an international authority in data mining and big data analytics, especially in areas of action mining for healthcare, costsensitive and active learning, and applications of data mining. In recent years Dr. Ling leads his team to create a novel system for people with type 2 diabetes, called GlucoGuide, via the use of data mining, software engineering, and mobile technologies. A three-month clinical trial with diabetic patients showed very positive result. He has created a start-up company, and served as CEO. He leads the team to make GlucoGuide available for millions of diabetic patients to use and benefit.
