John Plant with over forty years of contributions to engineering science, education, and the profession, has demonstrated exceptional leadership in his many and varied career pursuits; he is currently Executive Director, EIC, President of the RMC Foundation and Vice Chair, Board of Governors of St Lawrence College. As Principal of the Royal Military College of Canada, he led a transformation that established the institution as a recognized centre of engineering research in Canada. As both an educator and leader of educators he is recognized for the positive influence that he had on the many students and professors with whom he worked in his specialized area of digital control, as Dean of Graduate Studies and Principal, as well as in the many university and inter-university committees. His vision, practical approach and good humour throughout are hallmarks of his leadership. He has served as president of the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Society of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Advanced Education Consortium.
