Alberto Leon-Garcia is the Distinguished Professor in Application Platforms and Smart Infrastructure at the University of Toronto and the Scientific Director of the NSERC Strategic Network for Smart Applications on Virtual Infrastructure. He has conducted groundbreaking research in the areas of switch architecture and traffic management, the impact of which has been felt throughout the telecommunications industry, and spearheaded the creation of several unique educational programs in network engineering. Professor Leon-Garcia is the author of two highly influential textbooks which are used in universities throughout the world and have been translated into several languages. He is a Fellow of IEEE and the Engineering Institute of Canada.
