Before becoming Chair for Effective Design of Structures and Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at McMaster University, Ghani Razaqpur was Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at Carleton University. He is currently a Chair Professor at Nankai University in China. As a world authority in concrete materials and structures, advanced finite element modeling and design of structures using fibre reinforced polymers (FRP), he has over 200 publications in journals and conference proceedings and has supervised  over 50 master's and doctoral students. He chairs the Technical Committee for CSA Standard S806: Design of FRP Reinforced Structures and CSA Standard S850: Design of Buildings against Blast Loads. He is a Fellow of the CSCE (President 2006/07) and the EIC.
