About Me


David Goltzman is Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Physiology of McGill University,  Senior Physician in the Endocrine Division of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), and Co-Director of the McGill Centre for Bone and Periodontal Research. He served as National Principal Investigator of the Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study (CaMos) and was Director of the Calcium Research Laboratory at the McGill University Health centre. From 1988-1993, he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology at McGill. From 1994-2004 he was Chairman and Physician-in-Chief of the Department of Medicine at McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre.
The major thrust of Dr. Goltzman’s research is on the hormonal regulation of mineral and skeletal homeostasis and he lead the Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study(CaMos)He has served on the Executive of the former Medical Research Council of Canada and has been a committee chair, member and reviewer of grants and programs relevant to bone health and vitamin D at many research funding bodies including the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the National Institutes of Health of the US. He has been a member of the Scientific Organizing Committee of the Vitamin D Workshop, a member of the Board of Directors, International Bone and Mineral Society (IBMS) and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of Osteoporosis Canada. He is former President of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the Canadian Society of Clinical Investigation and the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism..
