About Me

As an artisan, Wendy Hutchinson creates purposeful porcelain objects, guided by the complexity of simplicity. She seeks to find calm in the chaos, in which tableware is accompanied by decorative vessels to bring the art of function and beauty of form to everyday life.  Based in Barrie, ON, she received residency grant funding in 2017 from the Ontario Arts Council (an agency of the Ontario Gov't) to fulfill her core training at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics, Italy.  Current exploration is informed by the potential of clay objects to hold things both tangible and intangible, why we choose those objects, and what they hold, whether it is a meal or a memory.
