About Us

Independence Elks Lodge #1950 sits on Main Street in the heart of downtown Independence.  Having opened its doors in March 1955, the Elks Lodge has become a staple of the Independence, Monmouth, and Dallas communities.

The lodge consists of two floors comprising of approximately 21,000 square feet.  The Lodge currently sits on the sites of a previous grocery store and an old J.C. Penny's.  The Elks Lodge obtained the Isis Theatre and has since turned it into a Lodge Room and rental space which can hold up to 325 people.

On March 24, 1979, the Lodge burned down in the middle of the night.  Though no cause was ever determined, the fire completely destroyed the entire left side of the building which holds the lounge.  The newly obtained Isis Theatre portion was saved due to fire doors that had recently been installed.

The lodge was rebuilt and it continues to sit in the same place in the heart of Independence.

The Lodge is open to members, but will sometimes host fundraising events which the community is invited to attend.

Additionally, there are three areas available for rentals which can accomodate small groups (10-50 people) to large groups (100-300 people).
