Professional Biography


I retired as the Bergen County Prosecutor (NJ). I served through attacks of 9/11. I formed and chaired the Prosecutor‚s Advisory Committee on Victim Assistance, I received NOVA CRT training, had an active victims assistance component in my office. Currently minister to military, veterans and their families. I am Director of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod NJ District Mission and Ministry to Military, Veterans and their Families. I am an ordained Lutheran pastor brought into the office of ministry as a Specific Ministry Pastor specializing in ministry to military, veterans, law enforcement and their families, Veterans with PTSD is a major component of my work. As the Bergen County Prosecutor, I was the chief law enforcement officer of Bergen County where I headed up the Homicide Unit, Victims Unit, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Unit. That position had me intimately involved with trauma and trauma victims. I was also responsible for introducing the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program into the Bergen County Prosecutor‚s Office and I expanded and prioritized the Sex Crimes, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Units. I previously served as a County Investigator (Detective), Assistant Prosecutor and Municipal Judge. as municipal judge for over 7 years I was responsible for initial hearings on domestic violence and issuing restraining orders. I was often asked to speak on this area by Alternatives for Domestic Violence and other victim advocacy groups. I have attended dozens of autopsies of murder and suicide victims, interacting with the chief medical examiner and his deputies, My military service was as a Navy Hospital Corpsman (HM2) on an aircraft carrier in Vietnam during combat operations. Most of the Vietnam tour I was Medical Night Master at Arms where I dealt with trauma victims on a regular basis. My entire career has placed me in close contact with trauma and trauma victims.
