Professional Biography


Tom Famolare C.E.C.R.

A Police Officer and then a Detective with the Boston Police Department, Tom has an extensive background in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Peer Support. In the past 20 years he has sat as either a team leader or team member in countless Defusings and Debriefings running the full spectrum of critical incidents including responses to the NYPD and PAPD after the WTC attacks. During the days and weeks that followed the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing/Manhunt and Line of Duty Death of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier Tom served as Team Coordinator of the Boston Police CISM Team.

Tom was also responsible for coordinating the CISM response during the anniversary memorials of the 2014 marathon. Tom currently holds a Certificate in Specialized Training (Emergency Services) from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation a Certificate in Emergency Crisis Response from the National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor. Tom is an outreach worker for the "LEADER" program at McLean Hospital in Belmont Ma. He also is a Curriculum Developer/Trainer for the Municipal Police Training Committee in Massachusetts for Stress Stigma and Suicide Prevention for Police Officers.

Tom has been instrumental in setting up Critical Incident Debriefing teams in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In the summer of 2019 Tom launched his own business Famolare Consulting.
