Stephen's background in counseling began in 1992 and includes counseling in church counseling centers, community clinical counseling agencies and private practice. His experience has included individual, couples, family and group counseling, where he has served children, adolescent and adult populations. Eddie has also worked with addictions, family issues, forensic interviewing / co-parenting, anxiety and mood disorders, adventure / wilderness therapy, along with disaster psychology / critical incident response. Stephen serves his community as a critical incident debriefer for Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement.
Stephen is a longtime resident of the upstate of SC and sees the importance of community and relationship. Stephen believes his faith, life experience and lifelong involvement in various community service organizations has prepared him for a profession of helping others to change and heal. Stephen served in the US Army and is currently active in his church as a teacher and deacon.
Along with counseling, Stephen also enjoys counselor education, serving as a past professor in the Psychology and Family Counseling Program at Barclay College. Stephen also instructed family systems and cognitive behavioral therapy with families with the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Services' (DAODAS) intensive family therapy program. He currently serve as an Adjunct Professor/ Clinical Consultant for Liberty University. Stephen also supervises practicum students and interns. Stephen's current research interests include: Adventure / Wilderness Therapy, and Interpersonal Neuro-biology.
When not counseling or teaching, Stephen enjoys outdoor adventure sports including mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, backpacking, whitewater kayaking and snow skiing. Eddie is married with two adult children and a precious grandson.
