Professional Biography


Rev. Stephen D. Carlson's professional career in Emergency Services began in 1977. He has primarily worked in EMS as a Paramedic. He has also worked as a Firefighter/Rescue Officer, Special Deputy, Public Safety Diver/Dive Medic and Dispatcher.

Beyond his Emergency Service work, Steve is currently serving as an Emergency Service Chaplain in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area and around the Upper Midwest. Steve is the Founder/Executive Director/Sr. Chaplain for Midwest Crisis Ministries. He also serves as chaplain for the MN EMS Honor Guard, the Central Minnesota CISM Team and the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the National EMS Memorial Service. Steve is also a member of the Speaker's Bureau for the National Center for Crisis Management.

Steve is ordained/endorsed clergy with the International Ministerial Fellowship and licensed in the State of Minnesota. He is a Certified Crisis Chaplain with the National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
