I have been involved in front line work for over 30 years, focusing the second half of my career on the study and practice of trauma work. As well, I have a specialty in addictions treatment having spent the last 16 years working in the addictions sector. As a trauma specialist, I am trained by the Traumatology Institute and have certifications as both a Clinical Traumatologist and a Compassion Fatigue Specialist. I am EMDR trained and have experience with both single event trauma and complex trauma. In the field of addictions, I have worked in both residential and out-patient settings. Over the course of the last 16 years in addictions, my area of interest has been on the concurrent treatment of substance use and trauma issues.
For the past 5 years, I have been working as a Clinical Supervisor in an addictions/mental health case management program. My area of interest now includes supervising staff within a trauma informed model.
