I'm a Trauma Recovery Expert/Disability Life Coach who inspires people to take action. My specialty is helping survivors to reintegrate into the mainstream.
I provide not only coaching, modeling and on-going support services to survivors of catastrophic loss and those who care about them, but I also bring my expertise as a professional speaker to organizations that hire speakers. I teach, model and coach by example. As a coach & speaker, I share my over 43 years of experience, recovering from a severe closed head/brain stem injury and I encourage listeners to become resilient survivors instead of victims, to invest their time in constructive action and to plan strategies they can use to overcome obstacles, whatever they might be.
After sustaining a severe and life-threatening brain injury in 1971, I did more just make a full recovery. I went on earn my Bachelor's degree and a Masters in Social Work. After being admitted to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), I earned a membership to the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) in 1984. In March of 2004, I became a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress (BCETS). In April, I received Board Certification in Disability Trauma (BCDT). In recognition of my Never-Quit-Spirit, I was named a 2009 Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Semifinalist. In 2010, I started my business called Trauma Recovery Expert and in 2011, I earned certification as a Disability Life Coach (CPC) from the International Coaching Academy. In 2012, I delivered a presentation to the Michigan chapter of NASW. In 2013, I began collaborating on Life after Medical Expenses - Living in a War Zone & Beyond.
