Professional Biography


Dr. Daniel Litowsky-Ducasa was born in the Republic of Panama, and was raised in South and Central America. Dr. Litowsky-Ducasa attended universities in California and Massachusetts, earning his doctoral degree in Education with an emphasis in Human Development/Counseling Psychology from Boston University. His doctoral thesis was focused on the contributing factors of school settings to student violence and later presented his research at various national and regional conferences. Dr. Litowsky-Ducasa developed his clinical skills as post-doctoral fellow at the Psychology Center, Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, MA and later at the Worcester Youth Guidance Center where he served as a staff psychologist.

Dr. Litowsky-Ducasa developed an expertise in the treatment of substance abuse and trauma associated with domestic violence, becoming a certified counselor to treat men who batter women. He continued to work and teach at the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus, providing course instruction at the graduate level in abnormal psychology, substance abuse and family and child development. He returned to California in 1999, and worked in various non-profit, private mental health organizations in executive management positions. He became licensed in California in April, 2003, as a Marriage and Family Therapist and began his private practice in San Francisco. In 2006, Dr Litowsky-Ducasa became a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He has served as an adjunct faculty at the University of San Francisco and a lecturer at St Mary's College in Moraga, CA. He has private practices in Novato and San Francisco.

Dr Litowsky-Ducasa is a clinical and approved supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and clinical member of the American Psychological Association and the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He served as President of the Board of Directors, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc, San Francisco between 2006 and 2010.
