Bonita S. Frazer, MS, CTS, FAAETS, a clinician with over 40 years experience in the mental health field, is the former Mental Health Emergency Planning Coordinator for Erie County, New York. Bonita holds credentials as a Certified Trauma Specialist, Police Trainer, Disaster Mental Health Instructor, and as an approved Instructor for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a Field Traumatologist with the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.
Through her volunteer work with the American Red Cross and the Western New York Stress Reduction Program, the CISM Team for four Western New York counties, she has offered crisis intervention and Critical Incident Stress Management services on a local and national level to survivors of critical incidents and disasters and to emergency services personnel who respond to such events. For the past 26 years, Bonita has been an instructor at the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy and teaches multiple courses to recruits and police supervisors. She currently serves as the Board President of the Western New York Law Enforcment Helpline, a 24/7 Peer driven program for working and retired police officers, corrections officers, dispatchers and their families.
Bonita is a member of the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART), an all hazard volunteer mobile multidisciplinary public health and medical augmentation team for first responders, emergency managers, and health directors in Western New York. Through this venue, she served as Human Needs Branch Director following the October 2006 snowstorm and the crash of Continental Flight 3407 in February 2009.
Bonita volunteers with the Canine Therapy Teams of Western New York, and formerly served as the Board Secretary for the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.
