My career included 38 years as a social work supervisor in child welfare/child protective services agency. I developed specialization in trauma-informed practice and sexual abuse of children. During my career at the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families I was selected for fellowships to attend programs in collaborative practice and trauma treatment. I was selected to be one of seven supervisors to assist in the development and implementation of the Massachusetts Teaming Project for which the agency received national recognition and a $500,000 award from the Annie Casey Foundation. I have been employed as a clinical social worker in a mental health clinic where I provided services to adults, children, adolescents as well as couples. I have presented seminars at national conferences on trauma and trauma-informed practice. Following my retirement I was employed as the consultant on trauma and mental health for the Boston Public Health Commission regarding the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Currently I am an adjunct professor of psychology and human services at a local college. I also am employed as a grief counselor/trauma specialist for the Department of Defense Victim Witness Assistance Program contracted through Management Strategies Consulting Group, Inc. I provide clinical services and consultation to family members and first responders of the 911 Attacks as they view the ongoing trials at Guantanamo Bay. I am the clinician for the Southeastern Critical Incident Stress Management Team.
My clinical practice is at DCS Mental Health where I treat children, adolescents, adults and families.
