About Us

The University Club was founded in 1891 when a group of prominent Boston businessmen decided to create a private club where college graduates could share ideas and continue to explore common interests beyond the university years. Their goal was, ""the promotion of education, literature, art, science and social and physical welfare."" The Club has seen much change through the years, yet it continues to provide a comfortable and friendly refuge for our members, who have grown from a privileged few to a diverse group of men and women of all ages and backgrounds. Our classic and comfortable Club ambiance makes it a gracious place to conduct business, to dine and unwind and to engage in recreation - fitness, swimming and squash - while forging friendships that will last a lifetime. Members are known by name and their presence is appreciated by our friendly and attentive staff.
