Maintaining a safe and healthy environment

Simply put Ivan Fredette liked climbing trees and the feeling of a chainsaw in his hands. He had always been fascinated by trees and their importance in our ecosystem. While working for Hydro One in their forestry department in 2010, Ivan decided he would make the leap and become and entrepreneur…Safe Tree was born. Focused on arboriculture, with safety and conservation of the environment as his top priority, Ivan spent his days learning more about tree care, safety techniques, developing his skills and providing education to those enrolled in the arborist program at Humber College.

Ivan started Safe Tree as a weekend business from his home, with just a few basic tools and a lot of determination. At first, and as with many startups there were good times and bad, but he was determined to make a difference in the industry.

The business gained momentum, acquired more clients, and word began to spread about the company’s focus on safety and conservation of the environment. Even with the company growing, Ivan knew that to truly make a difference, he needed to expand his business so that he could do more. The decision was made to make Safe Tree a truly family business as Ivan recruited his mother, who had great experience in business, and his partner Rose, who was skilled in finance. Together, the three of them formed a strong team and worked tirelessly to take Safe Tree to new heights.

As the workload grew so did the Safe Tree crew! Always keeping the companies core values top of mind and after three years of hard work and dedication, Safe Tree was able to reach their first major financial goal. Reaching this target allowed Safe Tree to expand their services, add more employees and offer even more specialized health care programs for trees.

The company became involved in their local community, participating in tree planting events and educational programs, which continues today. In 2021 Safe Tree moved into our new location at 1350 Maple St in Pelham. The move to a larger facility has allowed our Research and Development team to expand their studies and apply their findings to enhance all products and services.

With Ivan’s determination, family support and a team that believes, Safe Tree has become a leading full-service arborist company, all while maintaining their focus on safety and conservation of a healthy environment.
