Chang, Thomas

About Me

While still an undergraduate at McGill, Thomas Chang invented artificial cells. He published his first paper in Science in 1964 and 486 papers since, including seminal works in Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Biotechnology and Nature Review Drug Discovery. He has delivered over 300 international invited lectureships and assigned twenty-five patents to McGill University. Dr. Chang’s original ideas were years ahead of the modern era of nanotechnology, regenerative medicine, gene therapy, stem cell/cell therapy and blood substitutes. Evidence of his stature within the international scientific community was confirmed by two nominations for the Nobel Prize.
