About Us

Canada Kuwait Aid Network (CKAN) is a non-profit organization aimed at ending hunger by empowering communities in the State of Kuwait. CKAN was born as a grassroots organization to help people during the pandemic lockdown in Kuwait in the summer of 2020. A group of volunteers handed out food, baby supplies, and medicine to those in need. From there a network of volunteers spread and over 10,000 people were fed.

CKAN's objective is to help alleviate poverty and malnutrition in the short, medium, and long term. It does this by developing long-term food security management planning through extensive collaborations with NGOs and other charity actors in Kuwait, India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Canada. It also provides skills training and skills development workshops to vulnerable populations in Kuwait, to help them sustain their families and communities. CKAN is a registered non-profit organization in Canada since 2022 and is based in Guelph, ON to continue to partner with local organizations, including the University of Guelph. In 2022, CKAN won the prestigious European Union Chaillot Prize for being the most prominent new human rights organization the Arab Gulf.  Learn more about the organization by visiting our website at kuwaitaidnetwork.com or our Instagram at kan.kuwait.
