In 1871, Bishop Peter Crinnon purchased a 60-acre tract of land on the Hamilton/Burlington border for the establishment of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery – the first Diocesan cemetery to serve all parishes. Today, there are several Catholic cemeteries in Halton to serve Burlington residents, including Gate of Heaven on Snake Road in Burlington, and Holy Family on Lower Base Line in Milton. Our Catholic cemeteries are available to all Catholics and their family members, whether or not those family members are also Catholic.
