About Me


Dr. Levin is former Vice-Principal for Health Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, and a Professor of McGill’s Department of Medicine, Cardiology Division. He has been past President of the New York and Heritage affiliates of the American Heart Association as well as President of the Council of Deans of the Faculties of Medicine of Quebec. Prior to his McGill appointment in September 2006, Dr. Levin was Vice Dean for Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs, Division of Cardiology at New York University School of Medicine. He has been awarded four patents, both for his work developing a device and system for coronary health intervention and for studies on the promotion of wound healing. He is a past recipient of the Aaron Diamond Foundation Clinical Scientist Award, a Clinical Investigator Award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health, the Valentine Matt Medal and the Esther Hoffman Beller Research Award. Dr. Levin was responsible at the NYU School of Medicine for all educational programs from the Salk School, a middle school run jointly with the Board of Education of the City of New York. He and his colleagues at the schools of New York University developed ALEX, a new technology for learning.
