I have over 25 years of teaching preschool through adult programs. I am trained to teach using Applied Behavior Analysis, Orton Gillingham and Corrective Reading. I teach Language Arts and Math. My primary interest with younger learners is improving reading comprehension. I do this using a variety of techniques. I also help learners strengthen their writing skills using RACER and a variety of other strategies. I have spent years working with learners and their familes to help improve executive functioning and organizational skills. No matter what the reason for hiring me, I always use a person-centered approach to my work. My training in this area provides the opportunity for the learner to feel that they are a part of all planning and the goals we address are their goals. This is a critical piece to what I do with a learner and the family.
The other area I focus on is working with differently abled adults by helping them find employment and by coaching them on their employment skills. I have been a job coach and mentor to coaches and employers to better improve the overall outcome for the client. I enjoy making connections within my community and help build lasting relationships.
