About Me

Elisabeth Heathfield is a ceramic artist who loves to work with colour and texture. With a background in drawing and painting, she approaches every piece of clay as a canvas; a vessel made to carry a story. Her passion for abstraction can be seen in her whimsical approach to surface decoration. Elisabeth enjoys scratching and marking her slip-covered pots with underglazes, pencils, and chalks to create playful pieces that range from the functional to the absurd. Elisabeth often incorporates a variety of other materials into her work, giving her pieces a sculptural dimension. You can find her playing with mud in her studio on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula.

Elisabeth has a B.F.A. In drawing and painting from OCAD University, an M.F.A.from Norwich University of the Arts, and a Certificate in Ceramics from the Haliburton School of Art and Design. She is also a certified teacher in Ontario.
