About Me

Shayla Bond is a Canadian process artist useing fibre to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary making. Her work, marked by an exploration of themes like perfectionism, control, and obsession, is eloquently communicated through her use of color, precision, and repetition.

Having spent over a decade in the digital realm, Shayla found herself seeking a deeper, more tactile connection with her work following burnout. Her return to traditional crafts marks a personal journey of healing and reconciliation. In her art, Shayla honors the teachings of her upbringing and a maternal legacy, while infusing these influences with her unique perspective. Her creations are complex in process yet minimalistic in presentation, providing a tranquil retreat from today's fast-paced digital world.

Beyond her individual art practice, Shayla is the founder of ESBE, a bespoke quilt company. ESBE redefines quilting for a contemporary, design-aware audience, collaborating with interior designers to craft practical art quilts for the home. This venture underscores Shayla's commitment to blending art with functionality, appealing to those who value both the aesthetic and historical aspects of this enduring craft.
