My spirit name is Eastern Turtle Woman of the Marten Clan. My ancestors come from Serpent River First Nation on the north shore of Georgian Bay. I still make my home along Georgian Bay, on the south shore in Midland, Ontario. My given name is Elizabeth Cascagnette.
My home is my studio where am I am inspired throughout the seasons because of my view of Midland Harbour. I work with natural fibres and each ball of yarn is destined to become a finished product based on the texture and colour that speaks to me as to what it will become. Everything I sew is inspired by indigenous-patterned fabric I search out.
I honour my First Nation values taught to me and my ancestors throughout the generations and acknowledge and respect each step of the creative process, and in everything I do.
