About Me

I graduated from the ceramic department at high school and from the Akdeniz University of Fine Arts Faculty in Turkey.  During my studies I learned a lot about sculpting, how to utilize different materials and techniques, while gaining valuable experience. I mostly work on classical sculptures I learned and practice on human anatomy by practicing with  clay. At the same time I experienced being part of a group exhibition with my classmate.

I had my first solo exhibition for my final project in a gallery. For that exhibition I work on bust sculptures of controversial poets and writers.  The reason I wanted to work on the topic is because those artists are banned from Turkey even after dying and I wanted to remember them and they won’t be forgotten by Turkish people. I also like their writings and their ideologies. Unfortunately those ideologies are still not supported by Turkish people and one of my artwork was destroyed in transport on purpose. Creating art in Turkey is difficult because you need freedom to be creative.

After I graduated from University I decided to move to Canada and I applied for refugee status. In 2018 I started to be part of Akin Collective studios and that time I wanted to open my own business and make a living from my creativity. I began working on pottery because I find that it is easier to make an income.  Over time I start to combine ceramics and sculptures, and bring aesthetic shapes, cheerful details and enjoyable figurines placed on pottery to any space. My mission is to make life a little brighter with playful objects you can use every day.
