About Me


Mark Baechler is an architect and furniture maker based in the Great Lakes–St.Lawrenceforest region of Northern Ontario. He is Assistant Professor at LaurentianUniversity McEwen School of Architecture where he teaches graduate andundergraduate design studios focusing on wood architecture and furniture. Hisresearch investigates Danish and Ontario furniture traditions to inform aprocess of design thinking through making. His practice resides at theinterface of forestry, furniture and architecture toward the creation of ‘circular’material knowledge and experimental wood applications. Mark holds Bachelor ofArchitectural Studies and Master of Architecture degrees from CarletonUniversity in Ottawa.
