As a Deaf visual artist, I have evolved from creating lovely watercolour work totranslucent glassblowing. I am envisioning capturing and reflecting my beautiful sign language inmy glassblowing work. Glassblowing speaks to me as it is translucent. Glass blowing has theability to create beautiful sculptural work which you can see through for ease ofcommunication as a signing Deaf person where open field of vision is so important whilecapturing the beauty and diverse colours in my glass blowing work. I have had myglassblowing and watercolour work featured at THE DEAF CULTURE CENTRE, Distillery DistrictCanada. For me, glassblowing is a form of Deaf View Image Art (De’VIA) which reflectsstrong contrasting colours. For me it has the potential to feature the beauty and movement ofsigning in my ultimate glassblowing vision for glass sculptural work.
